TOYS FOR TOTS / SHIT LET’S BE SANTA

Can Town St. Louis is proud to be working with the Toys for Tots chapter in Alorton, IL to collect items for needy kids this holiday season.

As our group is almost entirely teenagers and young adults, we’ll be collecting art supplies and other items that will be appropriate for recipients your age!

If you don’t know what to donate, just think about what you’d like to get as a gift if you could only pick one small thing to receive this year.

ALL ITEMS MUST BE BRAND NEW AND UNWRAPPED.

A few suggestions:

  • Art supplies
  • Backpacks
  • Batteries (especially AA and AAA)
  • CD players
  • Cell phone or iPod cases
  • Colored pencils
  • Crayons
  • Headphones
  • Markers
  • Pencils/pens (nice ones!)
  • Sketchbooks
  • …anything else that’s popular with you and your friends!

Ideally, we need these items by early December. You can bring them to any of the upcoming CTSTL events. Thanks to Taylor, we will be offering collections at UMSL as well.

Our Secret Santa event will be for worksafe art in lieu of receiving any physical objects as a gift. Submissions will be due by December 31, 2012, and will be sent out digitally during the month of January. If you’d like to give the physical piece to your recipient, you’ll be given an opportunity to do so.

To participate, please fill out this survey. Note that a donation IS REQUIRED to participate in the Secret Santa event! Even if it’s something as small as a box of crayons — or green beans for Operation Greenbean — you must donate something.

You are always welcome to send questions by ask or by email: cantownstlouis[AT]gmail[DOT]com. Thanks, guys!

and so in your face people aren't even clued in to it.
I've had access to industry magazines for years. I used those articles to teach my boys how they were manipulated by Madison Avenue.
Take the Bratz dolls, or Mary Kate & Ashley, or any movie that when it comes out it already is synched to offer a plethora of merchandising. The dolls are the venue to get to the youngest girls, to trick them into a becoming conscious of "fashion". Kids emulate what they see. Then they offer the same type of outfits for those little girls, and now you have generations of sexualized little girls, dressing like they should be standing in some corner at night

There are also many puzzle toys for dogs on the market which are designed for food delivery. Tug-a-Jugs are easy to load and the dog really has to work to get his food.
